Fall/Winter 2011

The lazy, hazy, hot days of summer are definitely behind us. We have put away the summer sandals and fun floral frocks and are ready to put on our fabulous fashion boots! Fall foliage has once again mesmerized us and that beautiful array of colour follows us into this year’s Fall Fashions.  In past seasons we have seen the return of feminine elegance reminiscent of the 50′s and 60′s, and that trend continues, along with a return to the 70′s and 80′s, but this year those decades return with a twist. Cinched-in waists with big, bold (sparkling!) belts for that retro 50′s and 60′s look or toned-down bling and slimmer shapes with strong shoulders remind us of the 80′s. Dresses are back and they are sexy and bold, with a decidedly ladylike feel!  The off the shoulder/one-shoulder top and the bat wing cowl neck gives us the 80′s silhouette, but in a more sophisticated, elegant style and shape.  The skinny pant, with lots of stretch (delivering a tight fit and comfort) continues to be strong, but we are also seeing wider pant legs and   -dare we say- even the bellbottom seems to be chiming in!  Top it all off with another twist – the wrap.  Let blustery Fall do its worst – you’ll be enveloped in the warmth of cashmere with ruffled edges, faux-fur trim, or wild leopard print – staying cozy never looked better!  Accessories this season have a trend all their own – silver takes the top spot over gold, handbags are simple in bright colours, gloves and scarves sport the whimsy of animal-print (especially leopard), and necklaces are chunky (hugging the neck) or long chains boasting lots of “charms”.
